{"id":362,"date":"2025-06-20T10:35:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T10:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.0.108\/corex\/?p=362"},"modified":"2026-06-12T07:34:51","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T07:34:51","slug":"standing-with-the-albinism-community-annual-awareness-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rbo.rw\/rotary\/2025\/06\/20\/standing-with-the-albinism-community-annual-awareness-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Standing with the Albinism Community \u2014 Annual Awareness Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year on <strong>13 June<\/strong>, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali (RCKMJ) joins the global observance of <strong>International Albinism Awareness Day<\/strong> by standing in solidarity with people living with albinism and promoting greater inclusion, dignity, and access to essential services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In partnership with <strong>OIPPA<\/strong>, the club carried out a targeted community initiative focused on health support, awareness raising, and advocacy for the rights and wellbeing of people living with albinism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognising that people with albinism often face health challenges and social barriers, the initiative combined practical support with public education to strengthen inclusion and improve quality of life. Activities included health screenings, the distribution of protective eyeglasses, and community engagement aimed at encouraging understanding, respect, and equal opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s intervention resulted in the distribution of <strong>50 pairs of eyeglasses<\/strong> and support for <strong>10 medical screenings<\/strong>, helping beneficiaries access vision care and preventive health services that are essential to daily life and long-term wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make this initiative possible, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali mobilised <strong>RWF 3,000,000<\/strong>, demonstrating the club\u2019s continued investment in community-centred programmes that address both immediate needs and broader social inclusion goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond delivering services, the event also served as a platform to raise awareness about the rights of people living with albinism and reinforce the importance of creating communities where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali believes that meaningful impact comes from building partnerships and responding to the unique needs of communities through compassionate and practical action.
