Overview:

The idea of Bleaglee Sustainable cooking ovens emerged from the problem of million tons of waste ending up in landfills yearly in Cameroon. Passionate about educating youngsters on environmental protection, I began asking myself how to train youths at a young age on how to reduce million tons of waste in Cameroon, while also creating a viable business opportunity. In 2014, I graduated with a Diploma in Education and Development, which provided me with skills to solve waste management problems in an innovative way. I decided to study and found out that recycling metallic waste saves 75% of energy and recycling biomass waste saves 70 percent of energy. With very little funding, I began recycling metallic to produce clean cooking ovens, while recycling biomass waste into cooking fuel, as well as training and employing low-income youths. Our project has directly benefited over 300 youths with jobs, benefitted over 4,000 mums in low-income households with clean cooking ovens, and was launched in Nigeria in April 2019.
